Since I made three RMRs on the same gun (the first one broke after a month when the front lens fell off, the second one was DOA - it wouldn't adjust for air or magnification), I stopped the process.
The speed of the red dot on the gun is good, but I don't think the RMR can handle the constant, continuous shock of being loaded directly. I've been itching to review the red dot through a mounted chassis solution (e.g. ALG Defense Mount Two), but that's a different topic.
Anyway, I finally decided to restore the original factory disk. Before doing this, I replaced the firing pin safety with a titanium nitride coated version. I also replaced the stock sights with Wilson Combat's Vickers Elite Battlesights.
But I also removed the finger groove from the frame. Frame repair is one thing I've been putting off, so I figured this would be a good gun to have since I don't shoot that often.

At first I just removed the finger groove which was an improvement. All this is done with file.
But I felt that I really wanted to get rid of the hold script for the future. This will require removing a good 1mm from the front of the handle to get everything flush and remove the text. This was done with a Dremel tool and sandpaper to clean it up.
After it was completed, the new signature grip was improved in terms of comfort. The only problem after the complete removal of the finger grooves and the factory front band texture is the lack of gripping surface. This is where text often comes into play.
But at this point, I'm not sure if I really need to spend time considering adoption. At this point, I had a small piece of Dawson Precision tape that I cut from a large rectangular piece.
