Aircraft Stol - The HORNETSTOL is a fully enclosed two-seater aircraft designed to meet the demanding requirements of professional or recreational flying. The HORNETSTOL has been designed and manufactured by a dedicated team at Australian Aircraft Kits since 2003 and has been in popular demand ever since. The HORNET STOL's first public debut at NATFLY in 2004 earned its designer Ole Hartmann the title of "Most Innovative Ultralight Design 2004" by the Australian Ultralight Federation (now Recreational Aviation Australia). The HORNET STOL is the most modern and unique all-metal two-seat push aircraft designed and manufactured in Australia. It is widely used as an aerial utility vehicle for hobbyists and bush pilots. The HORNET STOL has proven to be ideal for rapid gathering, surveying, pipeline and fence surveys, hunting and fishing, drilling and asset management, aerial stimulation, and more. It is in a class of its own in terms of visibility, maneuverability, safety, easy STOL operation and low-profile handling, in terms of visibility, maneuverability, low-profile handling, low Operating/maintenance costs combined with a long-life airport. HORNET STOL has very agile S T O L performance due to its good power to weight ratio, its high raised wing and large area control surface, high wing loading and exceptional climb. Smooth, easy precision control throughout its entire speed range from 30 kn to 90 kn make for a very positive, flexible and responsive aircraft that is ready to follow control inputs with instant precision. Aircraft maneuverability indicates that it can safely pass control and operate safely in crosswind conditions. Key points for the operator: • Safe, versatile and easy to fly light aircraft • Low acquisition costs • Low operating costs • Low maintenance costs at the airport and all systems • Local manufacturer, supply of parts and services • Can be piloted by RAA or GA-VH license holder • Excellent service, fast and reliable technical support Australia wide. Key points for pilot and passenger: • Agile performance aircraft with 100 HP - 150 HP motorization • Smooth and pleasingly simple controls for long periods in the cockpit • Excellent visibility and ergonomics Matched with highly responsive and effective controls Forgiving aircraft handling Ideal for pattern operations and asset management • Excellent S T OL Performance • Extra large cargo area with access door • Integrated chrome-moly steel cage for strength and safety • Airframe and controls designed for minimal maintenance requirements • Full metal airframe using certified materials sourced and manufactured in Australia • Robust undercarriage for operation over rough terrain , wheel size range from 8 "x 6" standard to 29 "x 6" with low pressure heavy braking system. • Removable doors for flying in hot conditions. • Hard points for external cargo, wings and fuselages (see pictures) • External and internal long-range tanks (see notes). Additional equipment or optional layout: seed hoppers and spreaders, fence post carrier boxes, auxiliary tank pumping systems, pattern sirens and wailers, GPS tracking, safety equipment, large flaps and ailerons for very slow flight cover, large wheels Alaskan push wheels and more And HORNET STOL is an affordable and amazing STOL aircraft. Durable construction and clean design make this versatile aircraft an everyday favorite. Hornet Stole Design and Construction The aircraft is designed to withstand the harsh outdoor environment of Australia and the rugged environment in which it operates. Traditional and proven materials such as chrome moly tubing and plating 4130N grade and 6061T6 & 2024T3 are used on all pods. Construction of airplanes. All materials used are certified and sourced from Australian companies. The fuselage is built around a steel protective cage center section. The alloy skins are attached to the central section steel cage in a conventional riveting manner, reinforcing the central fuselage with wing, strut, undercarriage and engine mounting points built in the steel structure. A semi monocoque alloy stringer and pressed alloy skin construction create a strong tail section of the fuselage. All components such as wings, rudders, elevators etc. are quickly removed for transport, storage or repair. The pilot and passenger area is designed for maximum safety and provides excellent visibility for both pilot and passenger. The fuselage is designed to fit taller pilots. It is 1100 mm (42 inches) wide and 1200 mm (48 inches) high inside, equipped with a large windscreen and 3 removable doors/emergency exits. The cargo area is quite large and can load up to 35 kg (93 lbs). The wings are built in a proven alloy rib and alloy sparing method, covered with pressed alloy rails and fitted with automatic pressure tested alloy fuel tanks of 60L each per wing. The wings are sprung by two strong struts to withstand very heavy loads. The wing design is a high lift wing with conventional flaps and ailerons or optional flaperons. Metal ailerons and flaps are designed for superior flight performance at critical speeds and approaches, as well as gentle and forgiving stall behavior. Ailerons and flaps are controlled directly from the center fuselage control mixer and require low maintenance, with quick access to control wing controls and bell cranks. The control system is a push-pull rod system made of high-quality chrome-moly steel tubing with fixed bearings and rod ends for low maintenance and quick replacement when needed. Hornet's push-pull rod control systems provide smooth feedback from the control surface and allow optimal adjustment of travel rates on the controls. All controls are easily and quickly accessible for inspection or maintenance as needed. The elevators and rudders are extra strong designed to withstand the harsh treatment mounted on the tail end of the aircraft for impact and exposure to tall grass, rocks and sticks, dust, sand and other types of propeller wash induced damage resist. The control surface is huge and will surprise you with its responsiveness and agility when flying or taxiing. The powerplant for the HORNET STOL was decided upon after testing various engine units in the field. It was quickly established that the ROTAX series 912 ULS 100hp (LSA approved) and 914 Turbo 115hp and 915is (LSA approved) engines offered excellent power-to-weight ratio and low fuel consumption of 15-22 liters. / hour (in MOGAS or AVGAS). Engines are optional and firewall forward kits are supplied and installed as requested. See prices on request. Learning to Fly a Hornet Stole If you're a Trail Tracker pilot, you'll be solo in an hour or two. The HORNET STOL is a genuine tail drag, tame, forgiving and easy tail wheel plane you can get. "Three pointer" or "wheel it up" landings are no secret, no surprises. No matter how you do it, you will enjoy positive tracking on the strip or selected runway. The plane has no tendency to roll on the ground. If you've never flown a tailwheel airplane, there's no better way to start. The HORNETSTOL is designed for rough terrain, and take-offs and landings are very effortless and can be mastered quickly and precisely. It is a plane that compliments stick and rudder flying. It offers a challenge that is easy to achieve, and makes flying fun and exciting. HORNETSTOL pilots make better pilots with higher skill levels and more sophisticated skills.
